Kanjiwood features an ancient Japanese artform of wood burning on natural woods using heated iron tools. Kiwamura uses natural driftwood (a constantly renewable resource) and wood burns Kanji (Japanese calligraphy) onto them. Many of the Kanji symbols include translations such as "Peace", "Start Your Journey", "Dream", "Strength and Honor", "Total Healing", "Sacred Ground", "Tranquility", and even phrases such as "House of the Sacred Most Honorable Dog/Cat" or "The Woman in Charge". There are many translations available and even custom translations burned onto Kanjiwood can be exclusively ordered. Kanjiwood has become very popular in the Vallejo/Benicia area and no two pieces are ever alike.
Kiwamura's "Kanjiwood" is currently available for viewing and purchase exclusively at "The Foggiest Idea", The Tannery Building - First Street, Benicia California (707) 745-6600.
